We are very thankful to Professor Jeffery M. Leichman who graciously agreed to answer our questions on his approach to literary texts. He is an Assitant Professor at Lousiana State University. His research focuses on French-language theatre from the seventeenth through the twenty-first centuries, with a special emphasis on the legacy of the Enlightenment in contemporary performance culture. He recently published  Acting Up: Staging the Subject in Enlightenment France (Bucknell University Press, 2015).

Christian Biet est professeur de français, d'histoire et d'esthétique du théâtre. Spécialiste de la littérature du XVIIe siècle, de l'histoire des idées et des questions relatives au théâtre de l'âge classique, il enseigne à l'Université de Paris Ouest Nanterre au Département des arts du spectacle et est membre de l'Institut Universitaire de France.
