Bourse de Master à Indiana University

Le Département de français et d'italien à Indiana University-Bloomington (États-Unis) offre plusieurs bourses de recherche et d'enseignement en vue de l'obtention d'un Master ou d'un Doctorat en Littératures française et francophones. Le programme offre une formation complète allant des époques médiévale et classique (y compris le théâtre et l'opéra) à la période moderne et contemporaine (les littératures, le cinéma et les médias francophones).

The digitization of the Comédie-Française’s administrative records for the period between 1680–1793 offers a wealth of new data for expanded areas of scholarly investigation and analysis of productions and theater audiences. At the same time, new understandings of 17th and 18th-century theater practice pose new questions and possibilities for contemporary presentations of the classical repertoire. Sessions in French and in English.

Thinking with Montaigne: Evidence, scepticism and meaning in early modern demonology

In 1612 the Bordeaux witchcraft inquisitor Pierre de Lancre (1556–1631), himself linked by marriage to Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592), revealed that the essayist and sceptic was related on his mother’s side to a leading authority on magic and superstition, the Flemish-Spanish Jesuit Martin Delrio (1551–1608). De Lancre confounded historians’ expectations by using the revelation to defend Montaigne against his cousin’s criticism.
