Announcing an opportunity for promising minority undergraduates or other diverse students (first-generation college students, those with dis/abilites, LGBTQ students ) who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree to ultimately enter the teaching profession, whether it's a PhD to teach at the university level or a master's in education to teach in secondary schools.
The Institute for Recruitment of Teachers at Andover does wonderful work mentoring, providing application fee waivers, editing statements one-on-one, and other intensive guidance to help increase the pipeline of diverse representation at the front of the classroom at all levels. The program is 100% free. Their main goal is to break down the barriers of access that have typically excluded certain people from higher education and from education teaching and leadership roles. Now 42 consortium universities (including Yale, Cornell, Stanford, Duke and Madison) have committed to prioritize accepting IRT students into their graduate programs.
Applications are online now (Dec. 1) and will be accepted through April 1, 2017.
More info is in the brochure below or please email myself (jrow@bu.edu) or Kate Slater (kslater@andover.edu) with questions. Please share with your undergraduate students if possible!! Many thanks,
Jennifer Row
