Assistant Professor of French  The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Rochester (www.rochester.edu/College/MLC/) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of French specializing in the literature and culture of the 17th and/or 18th centuries, with interdisciplinary and/or theoretical interests that might include psychoanalysis, literature and philosophy, literature and the visual arts. Native or near-native command of French, excellence in teaching, and promise or evidence of scholarly accomplishments essential. Ph.D. by time of appointment. Teaching load is two courses per semester. Opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary programs such Film and Media Studies, the Ph.D. program in Visual and Cultural Studies, the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women’s Studies, and Translation Studies. Preliminary interviews at the MLA meeting in Austin.
