Anticipated tenure-track position for a Generalist in French Studies to start Fall 2015. Area of research specialization is open; however, the successful candidate should be able to teach a variety of literature, culture, and basic language courses on a 3/3 load. The department expects the new hire to be research-active, to be interested in collaboration with colleagues and students, to be committed to student success, and to engage with students through programs such as the department’s Foreign Language Residence Program, the French Club, the Study Abroad Program in Bordeaux, and NIU’s Research Rookie Program.
Requirements Native or near-native fluency in French; a Ph.D. in French or related field; ability to teach the literature and culture of France and Francophone regions; experience in the use of technology.
Preferred specialization A sub-specialty in film, contemporary literature and/or gender studies; proficiency in different modes of teaching (online/hybrid). Ability to teach Commercial French and Translation is a definite plus.
