Lecture: "Three Centuries of Science Museums - From Louis XIII to the Present Day"

What: Professor Etienne Guyon, former Director of the Palais de la Découverte and the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, will present on the creation of the national science museums in France: Museum d’histoire naturelle, Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers, Musée de l’Homme and Palais de la Découverte. He will analyze some pertinent characteristics of the scientific and cultural activities found in these projects, including the target audience and connections to research and development. He will focus in particular on the benefits of these projects to the public and the scientists involved. This presentation will include the consideration of new forms of outreach activities today
