2019 Annual SE17 Conference Information

 

The SE1729th annual conference will be held in Charlotte, NC at the Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City, at 230 North College Street, located a few blocks from UNC-Charlotte’s uptown campus.

Charlotte, one the largest cities on east coast, can be reached by car, train (AMTRAK), and airplane.

By car

Charlotte is easily accessible by car, but parking in Center City can be a hassle. The Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City parking charges are currently $18.00 per day for self-parking and $24.00 per day for valet parking. Day rate is $10.00 for self and $14.00 for valet.

By train 

Center City Charlotte is served by the AMTRAK train service which connects Charlotte to a variety of major cities across the US and Canada. https://www.amtrak.com/home

The closest AMTRAK station to the Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City is the Charlotte Station, located at 1914 North Tryon Street, approximately 1.5 miles from the hotel. The station is a 12- minute bus ride from the hotel and buses depart every 30 minutes.

By plane

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport<http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Airport/home.htm> has daily flights to all major North American and European cities, including several direct daily flights to London and Paris.

There are three ways to get to the Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City from the airport.

1. By Bus: 

While waiting for the completion of the West Corridor Streetcar project, the Charlotte Area Transit Authority (CATS) has put together an enhanced bus service to connect the International Airport to Center City. These hybrid-electric buses pick up passengers every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on nights and weekends in front of the baggage claim Zone D. Fare is $2.20 each way. The bus makes multiple stops before arriving at the Charlotte Transportation Center, which is located three blocks from the Holiday Inn.

2. By Taxi: 

An easy way to get to the Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City from the airport is by taxi. Taxi drivers in Charlotte charge a standard rate of 25$ per trip and will expect a tip of 4-5$ for a clean cab and a smooth ride. Taxis pick up passengers outside the baggage claim area. The three major cab companies in Charlotte are Crown Cab (704-334-6666), Royal Cab (704-222-2222) and Yellow Cab (980-785-1405).

3. Ride-sharing Services:

Companies like Uberand Lyft, which use smartphone apps to match passengers with nearby independent drivers, operate throughout the Charlotte region. Drop-off and pick-up spots are based on your location, except at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, where the designated ride-sharing meeting area is on the arrivals/baggage claim level outside zone https://www.uber.com/  ;  https://www.lyft.com/
