Smith College, full time Lecturer

The Department of French Studies at Smith College invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position beginning July 1, 2015. The initial appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of renewal. The normal teaching load is five courses per year. 

We seek an energetic generalist to teach language courses at all levels as well as introductory literary and cultural analysis. The successful candidate will participate in the development of the French undergraduate curriculum, advise students informally, and engage in the cultural, academic, and scholarly life of the Department. 

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in French Studies or a directly related field by the time of appointment, native or near-native fluency in French and English, and experience with current pedagogical practices for teaching French as a second language. Candidates familiar with online learning and the digital humanities are especially encouraged to apply.
