Ohio Wesleyan University, Tenure Track Position in French

The Department of Modern Foreign Languages is seeking a full-time (tenure track) Assistant Professor of French to teach a broad range of language, culture and literature courses at all undergraduate levels. Area of specialization is open to the different periods and genres within Metropolitan French Studies. Interest in participating in multidisciplinary programs (e.g. International Studies, Film Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, Black World Studies) and/or the OWU Connection is a plus. Candidates must be eager to enrich and expand our French and Francophone Studies Program and show a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and university service.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in French by the time of appointment, native or near-native fluency in French and English and familiarity with current foreign language teaching methodologies.  Evidence of successful teaching is expected.  Teaching load is three courses per semester (10-12 weekly contact hours).  Offerings in French contribute to the French major and minor; first year courses satisfy the language proficiency requirement.  All courses are taught in French.  Appointment begins in August 2020.  Assistant Professors at Ohio Wesleyan are granted a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review.
