Society for Early Modern French Studies
43rd Annual Conference, 2-4 September 2020, the University of Exeter
The Society for Early Modern French Studies (SEMFS) will hold its annual conference at the University of Exeter, 2-4 September 2020. The theme is ‘Public and Private’. Papers are invited on any aspect of this theme.
Proposals for papers (250-300 words) should be sent by 31 March 2020 to the Secretary, Professor John O’Brien (john.o’brien@durham.ac.uk). Please note that only current subscribing members of the Society may present a paper at the conference: http://www.semfs.org.uk/join/
We are delighted and honoured to announce that our keynote speaker will be Professor Mette Birkedal Bruun (Copenhagen). We shall offer, as usual, postgraduate facilitation bursaries from the Amy Wygant Fund. This year, exceptionally, owing to the generosity of the Danish National Research Foundation Centre for Privacy Studies and its Director, Professor Birkedal Bruun, we shall also be able to offer up to 8 fee waivers to postgraduates and early career researchers. These two schemes will be outlined in a subsequent communication.
Speakers are requested to provide translations into English or French of any illustrative material taken from other European languages.
