Dear colleagues,
Please find below the CFP for a collaborative panel discussion on Théodore Agrippa d’Aubigné’s Les Tragiques.
CFP - SCSC Bruges, August 18-20, 2016 “1616-2016: 400 years of Les Tragiques”
Four centuries ago Théodore Agrippa d’Aubigné published his seven-book poetic work, Les Tragiques. Looking back from the year 1616, publishing this collection of tragedies was both a means of revealing a version of the past and moving forward. Looking back from the year 2016, this panel seeks to examine how responses to Les Tragiques have changed over the centuries and, with an eye to the future, how innovative scholarship on “the tragedy that effaces all the rest” (“Fers,” 702-703) may inform and encourage continued research interest in Les Tragiques, well beyond its 400th year.
To participate: The SCSC’s “Workshop Option C” format will allow for productive and lively discussion between presenters and audience members as we address past and current approaches to Les Tragiques. Please send abstracts (200 words) for 10-minute papers to Phillip John Usher (pu8@nyu.edu) and Ashley M. Voeks (amvoeks@utexas.edu) by Friday, February 12, 2016.
Best regards, Ashley Voeks and Phillip John Usher
