The Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University invites applications for the position of Professor of Instruction (highest rank for non-tenure eligible, teaching-track faculty) and inaugural Director of the Weinberg College Language Resource Center. This is a renewable, full-time appointment to begin September 1, 2022. The successful candidate will be appointed as Professor of Instruction in one of the Weinberg College Language Departments or Programs and will serve for a renewable 3-year term as the inaugural director of the Weinberg College Language Resource Center. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and a minimum of 12 years of experience teaching a language and/or linguistics at the university level as well as native or near-native command of a language other than English, and a professional-level of proficiency in English. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in second language acquisition and pedagogy including a deep familiarity with current theories and methods of instruction, assessment, and technologies devoted to language acquisition and cultural learning at all levels (beginner to advanced) and for a wide range of languages (both commonly and less-commonly taught). Success in this position requires aptitude and experience in administration and program development in higher education, as well as strong communication skills across university community (students, faculty, staff, and administrators).
