The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in French. Start date is August 1, 2022. The position is contingent upon funding.
The successful candidate will have a field of specialization in French or Francophone studies, with expertise post-Renaissance and will demonstrate excellence in and commitment to both scholarly research and teaching, as well as the ability to teach all levels of undergraduate and graduate courses. Responsibilities include teaching proficiency-based courses at all levels, conducting and publishing research in areas of specialization, participating in departmental and university service, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate should be proficient at native or near-native levels in French and English.
A terminal degree in French or Francophone Studies is required by appointment date and applicants with second language acquisition, the ability to teach translation and comparative stylistics, as well as humanities courses in English, may receive special consideration.
